The rumors about 'Gran Turismo 7' being shelved for 'Gan Turismo Sport' continues to circulate even if there is no concrete basis to confirm all the talks. In fact, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has already nixed all the false reports as he said that the game will proceeed as planned.
An article from We Got This Covered quotes Yamauchi saying that fans of the series "won't have to wait that long" for the release of 'Gran Turismo 7.' With that said, speculations are flying that Sony will announce the game's launch during its E3 event in June.

There are speculations that the delay in 'Gran Turismo 7' has nothing to do with 'Gran Turismo Sport,' but rather the technology. If the speculation is to be believed, Polyphony Digital is waiting for Project Morpheus as the game will be equipped with VR capability.
'Grand Turismo Sport' beta will be coming to Playstation 4 this year. The game will feature two online championships: the Manufacturers Cup (where players will play for their home country) and the Nations Cup (where they will represent a corporate sponsor).
According to Car Throttle, there are some changes to the 'Gran Turismo 7' which would make the game more realistic for gamers. For one, the cars will sound more real this time, in revving and tire screeching especially when they maneuver across the asphalt, rough roads, and paved streets.
To achieve that realistic sound, The company has brought in Mike Caviezel to work on the game. Caviezel is touted to be one of the best sound guys in the industry and is responsible for the audio and sound effects on 'Forza.'
Nevertheless, when 'Gran Turismo 7' does come out, it will reportedly be exclusive to PS4. But that does not preclude the possibility of its availability for PC users. Yamuchi said as much in an interview noting that there is a huge difference in playing the game on the console.
"The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4 I think is going to make an incredible difference," he said in the interview.
