Reports are out that 14-year NBA veteran Carmelo Anthony wants more involvement in the coaching hunt of his current team, the New York Knicks, this offseason.

Since he was acquired by the Knicks via a multi-player trade in February of 2011, the 31-year-old nine-time NBA All-Star had suited up for four different head coaches, namely Mike D'Antoni, Mike Woodson, Derek Fisher, and Kurt Rambis. With that, Anthony is said to be adamant that he wants his voice heard when hiring the fifth one.

"It's a process that I think should be taken, and taken seriously," said Anthony, as reported by the Washington Post citing The Vertical's Michael Lee. "I would want to be involved. I hope I'm involved. Just to have my opinion heard. But I've already laid out how I feel and put everything out there on the table. Now, it's just on them."

The report noted that Anthony had clarified that he has not talked with team president Phil Jackson since the players' exit interviews before the playoffs, but he would like to be a part of the final decision on who will be the Knicks head coach next season.

"I'm pretty sure people would assume that (I'd be in contact with Jackson). I would assume that too. But what can I do? Bang down the door? Knock down the door and point a finger at Phil and say why hell you ain't..." he said with a laugh.

Speculations abound that the former NBA Scoring Champion is not completely sold to the way Jackson is handling New York's head coaching pursuit as the 11-time NBA Champion coach is said to be preferring a coach that would still use the triangle offense moving forward.

Some of the contenders for the post are Kurt Rambis, David Blatt, Luke Walton, and Tom Thibodeau, but the last two are already with the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves as of the moment.

Meanwhile, the New York Post's Marc Berman said that "Carmelo needs to quiet down and let Phil Jackson do his job".

Berman noted that it is "more important Anthony is involved in July 1's free agency, especially with his longstanding friendship with Kevin Durant, a fellow Maryland-area product" and also in trying to recruit close friend LeBron James.
