Frascona's family confirmed that the crashed plane was registered to his company.

His passengers included 41-year-old mother Tori Rains-Wedan together with her three children, Mason Wedan, 15, and 11-year-old twins, Austin and Hunter Wedan.

Reports stated that Rains-Wedan, who is also Frascona's girlfriend, is the owner of a company that offers educational courses for real estate agents.

Boulder Valley School District spokesperson Briggs Gamblin declared that grief counseling will be held at the Wedan brothers' school for their classmates and teachers on Tuesday.

Initial reports stated that three of the victims were found dead on the scene. The two others had succumbed to their injuries while being treated in medical facilities at around 4:30 p.m.

The small plane, which was identified as a Piper PA-46, had crashed a few hundred yards from the runway of the Erie Municipal Airport at around noon on Sunday.

Passersby who witnessed the crash reported the incident to authorities at around 11:50 a.m.

Reports indicate that the plane took off from the Centennial Airport south of Denver and was headed for the airport at Erie when the accident happened.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are still conducting investigations on the incident and has not released further updates on the crash.

Certain parts of Coal Creek Trail will be closed while the incident is still being probed.

Bereaved family and friends remembered the victims, especially Frascona who was described as "a great guy, lot of energy, really great attorney."

"Everyone on that plane touched the lives of many. The law firm morns their tragic death. May they all live on in the memories of those that loved them," Jon Goodman, Frascona's partner in a law firm, said in a statement.
