Beijing - August 11th, 2013, at the final day of 2013 BWF World Championships, China's Lin Dan met his archrival Lee Chong Wei, a badminton player from Malaysia.

In the opening game, Lin Dan committed several errors and lost the first game in a score of 16-21. However, in the second game, Lin Dan managed to make a comeback and won with ease. In the third game, Malaysian Lee Chong Wei needed treatment on court when the score was 19-16. But the simple treatment seemed to make no difference to Lee's pain. He lay on the ground in the middle of the following rally. Then the umpire called an end to the contest. Later, Lee Chong Wei was taken to hospital and the umpire announced Lee Chong Wei was retiring injured down 20-17, which means China's Lin Dan won the game 16-21, 21-13, 20-17. This is the fifth time for Olympic champion Lin Dan to win the world men's badminton championship singles titles.

After the game, Lin Dan said when being interviewed: "Both Chong Wei and I gave an excellent performance to the fans. He got this cramp out there and it reminded me of my training. When you have cramp, you can't move at all. From that moment we were not opponents any more. I really wanted to help and I went over to ask if he was OK. He didn't want to give up."

Lin Dan is a professional badminton player from China. He is widely considered to be the greatest badminton player of all time. By the age of 28 Lin Dan had completed the "Super Grand Slam", having won all nine major titles in world badminton: Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Super Series Masters Finals, All England Open, Asian Games, and Asia Championships, becoming the first and only player to achieve this feat.
