After 11 years of gigs, tours and album sales, The Smalls have played their last set last October 2011, but despite their long absence from the music scene, their supporters have shown their fervent support to the band during their performance at the event.

Mike Caldwell, the front man for the Canadian band, was pleased to see the familiar faces of their fans as well as new people enjoying their music. He was looking energetic and performed exceptionally despite suffering from a broken collarbone.

The original lineup, which consists of Mike Caldwell as the vocalist, Corb Lund on the bass, Terry Johnson on the drums and Dug Bevans playing the lead guitar, has come back, looking at home on the stage with the lead guitarist playing impressive riffs to their songs.

Corb Lund has even come up to the stage, jokingly introducing himself as Johnny Cash.

The group has also performed their song 'My Saddle Horse Has Died', highlighting bass lines and a Hungarian feel to it.

Reports say that the reunion of a band formed in the 80s could just be what the crowd needs despite their music being a little too heavy compared to the usual songs that Sonic Boom listeners patronize.

Other bands such as Death Cab for Cutie and Fitz and the Tantrums also played during the last day of the Sonic Boom festival with the former playing their song 'I Will Posses Your Heart'.

The Smalls has promised their fans that they would be back in November for a tour.
