Jamie Lee Curtis shares her experience about opiate addiction-and how she survived the ordeal. The actress talked about the issue after Prince's death, who many believed died from extreme drug addiction.
"So, awaiting final toxicology, it has now been reported in the New York Times that Prince was toxic. I can relate. I was toxic too," Curtis wrote in a blog published in Huffington Post Thursday.

She said that was anxious to her "prescription to be filled for the opiate," which she revealed she was "secretly addicted to."
"I too, took too many at once. I too, sought to kill emotional and physical pain with pain killers. Kill it. Make it stop."
The 57-year-old actress, best known for Scream Queens, considers herself "one of the lucky ones" for successfully recovering from opiate addiction for 17 years now.
There are now government and non-governmental groups that help address opiate addiction, such as the AMA, the FDA and even the media, creating awareness and helping victims move on in their lives.
Curtis explained that addiction to opiates begin "after a prescription for a painkiller following a medical procedure."
"Once the phenomenon of craving sets in, it is often too late," she said.
She also revealed that she "[mourns] the passing of a great artist" that is Prince and of "potential artists past and present," who were "caught in this deadly vise." She urged people to "work harder, look closer and do everything we can not to enable and in doing so, disable, our loved ones who are ill."
