George Clooney Seeks Treatment for Symptoms Caused by Back Injury from Filming "Syriana" Ten Years Ago

After almost a decade since George Clooney went into filming the geopolitical thriller movie "Syriana", the actor is still suffering the adverse effects of the injury he sustained on set.
The 53-year-old actor has been seeing Dr. Ralf Buhl, a well-known neurosurgeon at a hospital in Dusseldorf, Germany, to have his back injury examined. His symptoms reportedly include spinal cord problems as well as extreme headaches, both being caused by the 10-year-old back injury.

A source for E! News has confirmed that Clooney has been visiting Duke University last month and had a series of tests done last Friday at Dr. Buhl's clinic. "Buhl specializes in non-invasive methods, which lessen the need for surgery," the insider explained.
Clooney reportedly arrived at the doctor's office at half past seven and remained at the clinic for eight hours. The Emmy-award winning actor is also said to be relying on pain tablets for his migraines.
His back injury, specifically a punctured dura mater, from ten years ago badly damaged the soon-to-be-wed actor's spinal cord while filming a violent torture scene for "Syriana", causing his spinal fluid to leak and his headaches to persist.
With Stephen Gaghan as director and Clooney himself as the executive producer, the film was centered on the character of Robert Baer, a former agent for the Central Intelligence Agency, and his memoirs of serving in the Middle East.
In 2011, Clooney opened up to Rolling Stone about the incident and how it affected his everyday life and wellbeing.
"I was at a point where I thought, 'I can't exist like this. I can't actually live,'" Clooney admitted. "I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you're having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, 'I may have to do something drastic about this.'"
Despite such periodic symptoms, the actor has now returned to Italy and is feeling better, E! News has confirmed.
