Captain America: Civil War directors, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, have revealed that they will start working on a "mind-bending Chinese superhero film" this year.
The brothers behind the hugely successful Captain America franchise have teamed up with a Beijing-based production company to develop and produce a new superhero franchise for the Chinese audience.

In March, the Russo brothers formed a Chinese production label called Anthem & Song in collaboration with Chinese production and distribution company United Entertainment Partners and private equity firm HDQH in order to tap China's booming theatrical market, which is on track to become the world's largest box-office market next year.
Through Anthem & Song, the sibling director duo joined forces with Beijing FangJin Visual Media Culture Communication Company to make an action/sci-fi Chinese-language film titled The Hero's Awakening.
The superhero project will be helmed by Feng Mushui of Demon Warrior fame and American concept artist Anthony Leonardi, whose credits include Game Of Thrones and The Jungle Book.
"It is fair to say that the Russos are regarded as heroes in the global film business," FangJin's CEO Li Xing told The Hollywood Reporter. "In the future, everyone will be focused on the China market. By working with the Russos, we want to use the best visual storytelling to make localized films that fit the Chinese market."
Last month, the Russo brothers said that they were working with a young Chinese filmmaker on a film, which follows the story of a character who has the ability to move and control things with his mind.
"It will probably go into production in the fall; its budget is about $30 million. ... The release will be in late 2017, early 2018," they said at the time.
Captain America: Civil War had a hugely successful opening in China last weekend, raking in a whopping $95.8 million, the second-biggest three-day start ever for a Hollywood flick in the country.
