Basketball News: China Closes International Basketball Challenge Against Australia With 76-65 Loss

The Chinese National Men's basketball team wrapped up their initial Rio Olympics warm up with a 1-2 win-loss record in Beijing on Tuesday after suffering their second consecutive defeat against Australia.
The Australians got the better of the host team with a 76-65 victory in the third of the three-game series that started with a loss in Nanning, followed by two straight triumphs in Guangzhou and Beijing, respectively.

Some of China's top players such as 2016 Chinese Basketball Association Domestic MVP and former NBA player Yi Jianlian, Liaoning Flying Leopard hotshot Guo Ailun and NBA aspirant Zhou Qi did not play for in said games.
On the other hand, Golden State Warriors big man Andrew Bogut and San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills did not participate in the friendly games for the Australian team as well.
Chinese forward Ding Yanyuhang led the national squad with a game-high 18 points while teammates Zhai Xiaochuan and Zou Yuchen finished the game with 13 and ten respectively.
According to Xinhua, the Asian basketball powerhouse made 28 turnovers in the 40-minute game, while Australia only turned the ball over 14 times.
"We made too many turnovers and we also had problems on guarding their shooters," said China's head coach Gong Luming, who is a former Olympian (Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics). ,"Finding those problems is good, and I think our players should become stronger and more competitive on the international stage."
China won the 2015 FIBA Asian Championship over the gallant Gilas Pilipinas (The Philippines national men's basketball team), securing a berth in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
China currently sits on the 14th spot in the FIBA world rankings. They have already made nine Olympic Games appearances but the national team has not won a medal for the country yet.
Australia is the current FIBA Oceania champions and is ranked 11th in the world rankings.
