The media giant, Disney, has recently announced that they have initiated a legal battle against the EDM DJ Deadmua5 in which they present allegations of his logo being too close to the design of their 'Mickey Mouse ears' logo.

The Electronic Dance Music DJ filed a U.S. trademark application for his logo back in 2013 and was met with allegations of trademark infringement with a possibility of a cease and desist order.

Disney's legal associates are contesting the Electronic Dance DJ's efforts to create a trademarked insignia of his own. The particular logo in question depicts three spherical shapes in similar position to that of Disney's trademark.

Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. DJ Deadmau5, said in a recent Twitter post, he was willing and determined to battle it out in court.

Zimmerman explains that in no way, shape, or form has he used Mickey Mouse as a template for his logo and to him the two logos hardly resemble each other.

He stated " landed home to some very interesting news, today. It looks like Disney has officially filed in opposition of my trademark." Zimmerman has also posted other Tweets stating to "lawyer up, Mickey" and how "they aren't the same...this one will be mine."

The Canadian DJ has been wearing his trademark plastic mouse-head for over 10 years now and has had a trademark in over 30 different countries, including the UK, Japan, and Germany.

However, Disney is known for being highly protective over the use of their ANY of their characters, the Mickey Mouse character especially.

In 1989, Disney and their law associates filed claims against multiple Florida daycare centers for merely having different Disney characters painted on the walls inside the children's playroom area. This ultimately led to the daycare center being forced to remove and repaint every wall with any Disney-related characters or sticker on it.

As of now, it is difficult to speculate the outcome of these disputes. However, it is apparent that both parties involved are highly determined to battle out for what is "rightfully theirs."
