Wes Welker of the Denver Broncos will be out for the first four games of the NFL season due to his violation regarding the league's stand on performance-enhancing drugs.
The football star has been suspended for testing positive for amphetamines in an off-season test. Welker filed an appeal for his suspension in Washington D.C. two weeks ago, but was denied.

"Tonight's news regarding Wes is very disappointing for our team, but we understand the league's authority in this area," said John Fox, Broncos coach, through a statement. "While it's unfortunate to not have him to start the year, I have full confidence in our wide receivers and expect that group to continue playing at a high level.
Despite of Welker's controversy, Fox is still confident that former Patriots star will keep his focus on his preparations and will stay in perfect shape while he is away.
Welker is already sidelined after suffering a concussion in a preseason game in Aug. 23. The injury is his third concussion for the past 10 months. With or without the suspension, the 33-year-old star is expected to miss a couple of games due to the fact that he was not yet cleared to play.
After being with the New England Patriots for six seasons, Welker left Tom Brady to sign a two-year contract with the Broncos amounting to $12 million.
Together with Peyton Manning, he recorded 73 passes for 778 yards with a career-high 10 touchdowns in his first season with the Broncos. The Broncos were able to win the AFC title but lost in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.
The ban will make him out of action for some of the highlight games of the season. Broncos are scheduled to open up against tough opponents such as the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and the Arizona Cardinals.
