The State Council Issues Opinions Promoting Information Consumption to over ¥3.2 Trillion by 2015

("Expanding domestic demand")
The General office of the State Council of China announced "The State Council's Opinions about Speeding up Information Consumption Promotion to Expand Domestic Demand", the central government's website said on Aug 14.
The main goal is the rapid growth of information consumption scale, "Opinions" said. By 2015, the scale of information consumption will be more than 3.2 trillion yuan, and its average annual growth more than 20%. It will drive related industries to produce a new output of over ¥1.2 trillion. Among it the scale of a new type of information consumption, which is based on the Internet, will be ¥2.4 trillion, and its average annual growth more than 30%. And the consumption based on information platforms, such as e-commerce and cloud computing, will grow rapidly. E-commerce transactions will be over ¥18 trillion and online retail transactions will break through ¥3 trillion.
"Opinions" proposed main tasks of promoting information consumption from the following aspects: First, speeding up the evolution and upgrade of information infrastructures; Second, enhancing the supply capacity of information products; Third, cultivating information consumption; Fourth, improving informationalized level of public services; Fifth, strengthening the construction of information consumption environment, etc.
