Indian weddings are generally known for their beauty, color, and extravagant nature. However, a recent wedding that took place in eastern India had a very unique groom.
Mangli Munda, 18, was not too excited about her marriage to her husband, Sheru. While cute and attentive, it was difficult for Munda to ignore the fact that her groom was a dog - literally.

Munda's home is located in a remote village of Jharkhand - an eastern Indian state. As with many teenagers, much of Munda's young life revolved around her family.
Yet when Munda was told by a village guru that marrying a man would bring destruction to her loved ones, Munda and her family took the guru's advice seriously. According to Munda, the guru had told her she was under an evil curse - and not the innocent ones from fairytales.
The curse the guru spoke of would not only directly affect Munda's family - it would affect the rest of Munda's community as well. Despite the guru's negative disclosure, he did mention a way for Munda to be able to ward off bad luck for her family and the community - to marry a dog.
Munda's father, Sri Amnmunda, had been adamant about his daughter accepting this practice, as he, too, believed in the guru's predictions of a curse.
Though Munda was not pleased to hear about the guru's remedy, the guru had mentioned that marrying a dog for a short while would pass Munda's bad luck onto the dog instead of Munda and her loved ones. After marrying and raising the dog, Munda would be free to marry a human husband without worrying about any bad luck tainting her marriage.
Additionally, Munda would be rewarded with a husband who would live a long life.
Surprisingly, the guru's remedy was not a rare event, as many of Munda's fellow villagers had completed the same task of marrying a stray dog. All of the young women who had completed the task were then able to marry real husbands after devoting their time to raising and caring for their dogs.
In fact, many of the villagers residing in Munda's area thoroughly believe in the practice and have told Munda of other girls who have gone through the same process, each one ending up happy later on in life.
Munda's wedding ceremony was attended by 70 other villagers, with many of them tending to her now husband Sheru, as if he were a human groom. Sheru was dressed in traditional Hindu wedding attire.
Sri Amnmunda had even ensured that Sheru traveled to his wedding ceremony in style - via limousine.
While Munda is still a recent newlywed, she is looking forward to the day when she'll be able to marry someone who does not walk on four legs.
