China's Mobile Internet Users Reached 780 Million in 2015, Says new Report

The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), along with the Internet Society of China, has officially released a new report that reveals the number of mobile Internet users in the country reaching a total of 780 million in 2015, which is 56.8 percent of the whole population.

According to the report, called "2016 Statistical Report on Internet Development in China", the most popular smartphone brands used by Chinese Internet users in 2015 were Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi.
Apple accounted for about 16.76 percent, while Samsung and Xiaomi accounted for 15.78 percent and 15.56 percent respectively. To compare the figure with last year's report, the size of mobile Internet users in the country had reached a total of 557 million by the end of 2014.
Other mobile devices that made it to the top ten include Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Lenovo, Coolpad, HTC, and LG. The report also shows that the percentage of Chinese mobile Internet users saw an increase from 85.8 percent last year to 90.1 percent.
In the same year, it is said that the number of smartphones had reached a total of 1.13 billion units, in which 78.9 percent of those devices were Android-based, and 13.08 percent of them run on the iOS operating system. Furthermore, the most popular kind of Internet services used in China last year were "social networking, search, and e-commerce services", Marbridge Daily reported.
THE CNNIC is China's administrative agency responsible for Internet Affairs under the Ministry of Information Industry. It continues to carry out technical research and surveys, and maintains statistics on Internet information within the country.
In the meantime, it was also revealed that Hong Kong continues to hold the top position of the most connected population in the world for two years, ahead of North America and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The latest GfK Connected Consumer Index shows that Hong Kong earned 1,486 points, while the United States, Canada and Mexico combined scored a total of 1,062 points.
The index provides information and comparison of the most connected regions in the world, covering a wide range of devices in terms of connectivity, including smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, gaming consoles, and smart TVs, among others.
