According to Google's VP for product management, Mario Queiroz, Google Home's expected release date will be towards the end of the year. The reason for the early debut is that the company is looking to work with interested developers who will help them create amazing experiences from using the device. Google Home is said to rival Amazon's Echo since it also functions as a hands-free voice enabled speaker.

In the apps department, the company also showcased the Allo, Duo and Android Instant Apps. Allo is a messaging app which has the Smart Reply feature which learns your responses over time and also allows you to reply to your messages even without typing. Duo is a video calling app that has a special feature called Knock Knock which allows the receiving party to preview live video from the caller. Lastly, Google's Android Instant Apps allows users to use an app without the need to download it, a link will be provided to users which will allow them to access it instantly.

Last but not the least, the company's VR platform Daydream is said to be more advanced than its predecessor Cardboard.  Google has also named ZTE, Samsung, LG, HTC, Xiaomi, Asus, Alcatel and Huawei as its hardware partners who will be manufacturing Daydream-compatible phones.
