In the finale of "NCIS" season 13, Cote de Pablo's Ziva David died while Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo had to give up his career to focus on their daughter he was never told about.
The actor admitted that he is "incredibly please" with how his story was written. "I think we gave [fans] a very satisfying emotional journey, and it was very emotional for me," he said.
He also revealed that he feels "very complete" like "the circle has been closed" as he prepares for a new adventure.
Meanwhile, showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine that it had been clear early on that they needed to give DiNozzo a big push that would make him leave NCIS. In this case, they came up with the idea of giving him someone he would be responsible for.
The actor was on board the idea, according to Glasberg.
However, he clarified that when DiNozzo's child storyline was conceived, there was no specifics about Ziva David coming back to "NCIS."
"When we came up with this child storyline, there was never specifically a conversation about Cote coming back this season, so we just proceeded along those lines," he said.
