Toshiba will showcase its latest product lines at the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin in Germany from Sept.5 through Sept. 10.

Owners of the new Chromebook will be able to watch movies, access files and work on documents without being chained to the Internet.

"We're going with the entertainment-optimized approach with this laptop," said Toshiba product marketing manager Carrie Cowan to VentureBeat.

The Toshiba Chromebook 2 will sport a 13.3-inch screen with full HD and a screen resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 on its in-plane switching display in a 12-inch frame.

It's also equipped with 2 GB of RAM and the newest Intel Bay Trail processor. The laptop has its speakers embedded under the built-in keyboard.

The speakers have a wide range of audio capabilities and high-quality bass as it's endowed with Skullcandy audio.

The Chromebook runs quietly since it has no fans to cool it. It also has no vents, which may prove problematic if the computer is used for prolonged periods of time.

Meanwhile, the Toshiba Encore Mini is a 7-inch tablet running on Windows 8.1 that will retail for US$120.

The computer company is aiming at the value market with the device, which comes with a free, one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, Microsoft's cloud edition of MSOffice, and one terabyte of storage on OneDrive.
