A Chinese man is recruiting thousands of best men for his wedding to help remind men to care not just about their parents, but also their parents-in-laws, a news report says. Wang Jiang, 38, was able to get people’s attention with his booth set up in a street in Chengdu on Sunday, chinanews.com reported. He appeared with a poster that said he is recruiting men to be a best man at his wedding.

Those who wanted to sign up, however, need to do one important thing: kneel down and write “Mother-in-law is mother” on a writing sheet a hundred times. According to Wang, this serves as a reminder to all the men that they should respect not only their own parents, but their wives’ parents too.

Wang spent eight years searching for a wife before he could finally marry in February. He plans to have a wedding with more than 10,000 people in attendance so that he could create a new Guinness World Record.

So far, there are already more than 600 men who signed up to be best men and more than a hundred women who signed up to be bridesmaids, Wang told China Daily. He hopes to have many single men and women sign up so that they could meet someone they might develop a relationship with.

"I hope my wedding can be an opportunity for all the best men and bridesmaids who are single to know each other and have chemistry," Wang said. He also said both his bride and mother-in-law know of his plans, adding that the latter “wishes [me and my bride] well.” Wang added that organizations and other individuals can sponsor wedding fees.
