President Xi Jinping stirred Anti-Japanese War spirit among Chinese citizens in anticipation of the country's many battles leading to its development.
Speaking in a symposium that marked the 69th anniversary of China's success in the Anti-Japanese War, Xi said China adopted an anti-Japanese national spirit when it resisted Japanese aggression, according to state-run Xinhuanet.

"The great national spirit, with patriotism at its core, was a decisive factor for the victory," Xi said. "While the mainstay role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) played during the war was also crucial."
Xi also said the anti-Japanese aggression was the country's "magic tool" that led it to victory. The whole country participated in the effort, he said.
China should gear up for many fights with "new historical characteristics" as they move towards their goals. They need to achieve "common prosperity" little by little for everyone and revive China's dreams, Xi said.
The Chinese President emphasized the need to stick to China's "socialist path" and prioritize the country's development. Xi also said the Chinese government must implement comprehensive reform and maintain peace as it strives to achieve its national goals.
China is willing to foster long-term and healthy ties with Japan, but stressed that the latter needs to reflect on the political implications of the past events. Xi also said he will not allow militarism to return to their country, GlobalPost relayed.
While China does not blame the Japanese people for what happened in the war, it wants the Japanese government to respect their neighboring countries and acknowledge the war victims, Xi said.
Xi also lambasted Japanese political groups who still deny the crimes committed during the war and eulogize colonialism.
In conclusion, Xi said China's victory in the Anti-Japanese Aggression War was important because it ultimately prevented Japan from enslaving China. It also restored China's position among the biggest world powers and paved the way for a brighter future for the country.
Senior Leader Liu Yunshan presided the said symposium. Premier Li Keqiang also attended the event.
