Recently, a visitor Ms. Liu complained to journalists about her bizarre experience at Luohe civil wildlife park of Henan Province in China. "I took my son to play in the park only to find the African lion began barking."
Last weekend, when Ms. Liu was on the way to zoo with her six-year-old son, Ms. Liu kept hitting off various animals to show her son how animals call. However, when they arrived at the zoo, her son Dongdong said Ms. Liu was lying because the lion was barking instead of roaring.
At first, Ms. Liu thought Dongdong was just kidding. But after hearing carefully for a while, Ms. Liu was sure the creature in the cage marked "African lion" was actually a dog. In fact, the dog is a Tibetan mastiff dog. Though the furry dog has a lion-like mane of fur and is similar in color to an African lion, it is still a counterfeit. Ms. Liu was very angry. "The Zoo is trying to disguise a dog as a lion. They are absolutely trying to cheat the visitors. " She said.
Later, our journalist visited the zoo and also found the Tibetan mastiff dog in African lion's cage. A zoo employee told our journalist the zoo did have an African lion, but the real lion has been send away to a breeding facility at present.
During our journalist's visit, more fake animals are found. There is a dog barking in a cage marked "wolf". As for this, a zookeeper explained they kept dogs and wolves to live together. The wolves were sleeping inside right now. In a cage marked as "Chinese Grade 1 National Key Protected Species: leopard", there are some fox-like creatures on show. Moreover, two rodents are housed in a cage marked "snakes".
The zoo is accused of illegally charging visitors and operating without required licenses from the local government. The man in charge has promised they will urge the zookeepers to correct their dishonest activities as soon as possible.
