After a string of bids and offers, National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has reportedly resigned with Nike. He shuns a deal with up-and-comer Under Armour that offered a deal of US$285 million.
At the start of his career, Adidas was offering Durant US$20 million more than Nike. However, Durant still chose to go with the latter, stating that he loved Nike and one day wished to have his own line, as NBA superstars are wont to do.

He signed with Nike in 2007 for US$60 million over seven years that expires this coming Sunday.
Durant, though, has now re-signed with Nike until 2024. In total, he will be spending 17 years with the Nike brand.
These past few months, Durant did come close to leaving Nike and signing with Baltimore-based Under Armour.
Nike initially offered Durant US$20 million per playing year.
Under Armour, on the other hand, was reportedly offering him US$265 to $285 million in total.
They also offered him other incentives such as stock options, a community center built in his mother's name, and the chance to be closer to home, with Durant originally hailing Washington and his contract expiring for the Thunder in 2016.
However, Nike responded and increased their offer.
Reports suggest that Durant could be gaining as much US $300 million from the new 10-year Nike deal. Two people familiar with the deal have also stated that Durant will be receiving an additional US$50 million in retirement benefits.
The reported numbers do not include the additional royalties he will be receiving for his shoe lines.
