CMA Snubs Taylor Swift for Major Category Nomination

While Taylor Swift was nominated for the Female Vocalist of the Year category at the 2014 CMA Awards, the singer is not among those in the running for Entertainer of the Year.

The Country Music Association Awards is considered as the Oscars of country music. It is the most prestigious of Nashvilles award shows.

The CMA Awards announced on Wednesday on "Good Morning America" the list of the nominees.

In the top category of the show, Entertainer of the Year, the nominees included Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and George Strait, but Taylor Swift, who won the award twice, was not included.

Swift's exclusion from the list of nominees for the category did not come as a shock since her most recent album, "1989," was announced to be her "first official pop album."

From having eight nominations in 2013, Swift is now down to only one nomination, reportedly due to her shift in genre.

For the Female Vocalist of the Year category, Swift is up against Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert.

Meanwhile, Scott Borchetta, president of Swift's record label, Big Machine, said during an interview that Swift "probably shouldn't be up for country entertainer of the year this year."

Borchetta added that in addition to Swift's shift to pop music, the singer hasn't toured the states this year.

But despite the snub she received in the CMA Awards, Swift's newest single, "Shake it Off," is the number one song on Billboard's Digital Songs Chart, raking in 355,000 paid downloads for this week.

The song has now garnered a total of 884,000 downloads for the two-weeks that it has been released.

It is expected to pass its one million mark by the end of the week.
