Jay Chandrasekhar has confirmed that the sequel to Super Troopers is indeed in the works, and could be set for video production as early as in the winter of 2014.
Super Troopers was released in 2001 and has become a cult classic, since then gaining a very dedicated and passionate fan base.

The stars of the movie - Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Pal Soter, and Erik Stolhanske - are part of a close group called "Broken Lizard" who not only act, but also collaborate on the screen writing and production of their films as well. Some of these films include Super Troopers, Club Dread and Beerfest.
Rumors of a sequel have been circulating for years now, but it seems Super Troopers 2 will finally see the light of day.
Jay joined Kevin and Steve in their online audio podcast show called "Chewin' It Episode 76" Sep. 3 to discuss multiple topics including the highly anticipated Super Troopers 2 movie.
In the podcast episode, they mention they're very close to getting the sequel finalized with Fox studio and ready to start shooting, but the only thing holding them back right now is funding.
Fox will be distributing Super Troopers 2, but Broken Lizard will have to accumulate the necessary funds for production and marketing. Jay mentioned the possibility of looking through kickstarters to help fund the project. After all, the original Super Troopers have gained such a big following that the sequel is pretty much guaranteed to make its money.
Jay says the script is already written and they've reportedly agreed to financial terms with Fox, but didn't go into specifics.
"Finally got financial terms that are pretty good," Jay said in the Chewin' It podcast.
There was even talk about when exactly the movie will start its video production.
"Cameras will roll, let's say, April," Steve chimed in.
However, Jay, who's usually the primary director of Broken Lizard movies, said he loves the idea of changing up the scenery and shooting Super Troopers 2 in the winter.
"I still really like the idea of making it in the winter. Steam coming out of our mouth, unlike Game of Thrones," Jay joked.
So there you have it folks - if everything goes according to Jay Chandrasekhar's plan, Super Troopers 2 will be going into video production as early as this winter.
