FIBA World Cup: Round of 16 Matchups Complete

The teams moving forward for the round of 16 has been completed for the FIBA World Cup in Madrid, Spain. At the forefront of the teams are USA, Spain, and Greece, who are all unbeaten so far.

Spain took on Serbia and cruised by on an early lead. Pau Gasol scored 20 points, while Ricky Rubio had 12 points, six assists, four rebounds, and seven steals. They won with an 89-73 victory.

Greece defeated Argentina, with Nick Calathes shooting 18 points, and Giannis Bourousis with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

USA's last match was against Ukraine, where James Harden scored 17 points to win, 95-71. Ukraine's loss also knocked them from second place to fifth, leaving them out of the round of 16.

Groups A, B, and C, were all conquered by undefeated teams respectively.

In other action, Turkey secured third place with a win over the Dominican Republic.

New Zealand knocked off Finland with a close game, 67-65.

Angola beat the already qualified Australia, as the latter rested their star players, Joe Ingles, and Aron Bynes.

Mexico won against South Korea and punched their ticket to the round of 16.

Brazil took second place in their group by beating the winless Egypt.

France got the chance to qualify with a win over Iran.

Finally, the Philippines won their first international game in 40 years against Senegal. Senegal dropped to fourth place, but still qualifies.

 

UPCOMING ROUND OF 16 MATCHUPS

There will be a one-day reprieve from basketball action, with the round of 16 resuming.

The match-ups for the round of 16 are as follows:

Slovenia vs. the Dominican Republic.

Australia vs. Turkey.

Greece vs. Serbia.

Argentina vs. Brazil.

Croatia vs. France.

Senegal vs. Spain.
