Homeland showrunner, Alex Gansa, has finally revealed the fate of the fan-favorite character of Peter Quinn in the upcoming season six of the Showtime drama.
Quinn's (Rupert Friend) fate was left hanging in the balance at the end of season five, when he was shown nearly dead after being exposed to sarin gas and Carrie (Claire Danes) was left with the difficult choice to pull the plug on his life support.

However, Gansa has revealed that Quinn is alive and well and will be returning next season. "Rupert will be back, but not the same," he revealed during an FYC Emmy panel discussion. "How we're dramatizing Peter Quinn is still undecided at this moment."
"I hope he enjoys eating through a tube," Friend quipped, when asked about Quinn's role in the upcoming sixth season.
After Islamabad and Berlin, Homeland will be returning back to base in the upcoming season and will be set in New York City, with its plot focusing on the U.S. presidential election.
"The entire season will take place between election day and inauguration day," Gansa explained. "It's an interesting time. A transition and transfer of power is happening. In that 72 days, we're hopefully going to tell an interesting story. Whether the president is male or female, it's going to be a very interesting character."
Even though the sixth season takes place in NYC, Gansa downplayed the likelihood of a terrorist attack in the storyline.
"We're back in the city where 9/11 happened," he said. "The easy thing to do would be another big terrorist attack in New York, but I think that's bad karma. We're going to tell a different story."
An official premiere date for the sixth season has not yet been confirmed Homeland is set to this fall.
