Current Women's Tennis Association world No. 74 Wang Qiang of China failed to advance to the next round of the ongoing 2016 French Open after suffering straight sets losses to the incumbent world No. 14 and tournament's 12th seeded Carla Suares Navarro of Spain at the Stade Roland Garros on Thursday.

According to Xinhua, Wang managed to bounce back from four games down in the second set of the match but fell short when she trailed 5-3. The Chinese tennis ace bowed down to the former world No. 6 native in a 6-1, 6-3 defeat that lasted one hour and five minutes.
"I felt quite uncomfortable against such a high level clay-court expert like Navarro," Wang said after the second round match. "She's the one having control the whole match and forced a lot of errors from me, especially in the first set," the 24-year-old added.
It was the Tianjin native's second campaign in the Paris-based tennis tourney's main draw and Wang's first time making the singles second round. She failed to advance to the next stage after losing in the first round last year.
Wang was the last Chinese woman competing in the singles event after compatriots Zhang Shuai and Zheng Saisai were ousted.
China's highest-ranked women's singles, the 69th-ranked Zhang Shuai, failed to win her second round match against the world No. 22 Samantha Stosur of Australia. While the world No. 85 Zheng Saisai lost in the opening round to the 22nd seed Slovakian Dominika Cibulková.
