"General Hospital" star Kirsten Storms has issued a statement on Twitter saying that she will be taking a break from the show due to some skin issues. It is unclear when she will be coming back.

The 32-year-old actress released the statement to allay concerns among fans about her condition due to her absence from the show recently. Storms thanked her fans for the outpouring love and support, adding that she appreciates the positive messages she has received.

She confirmed that she is taking a break from her work due to some skin issues. Storms said her doctor told her that the breakouts on her skin are due to stress. She did assure her fans, however, that it will not take too long for her skin to be treated. The actress explained that it was becoming difficult for "General Hospital" to cover up her skin breakouts, thus her brief exit from the series.

"And we all know in the biz appearance is important. In the meantime I look forward to seeing Molly on screen as I take the next few weeks to heal. Again - thanks for the love and you will see me again in no time," Storms wrote in her statement.

The Molly she was referring to in her statement is Molly Burnett from "CSI: Cyber, True Blood." The actress will take her place and play the role of Maxie Jones until July.

Storms has been part of "General Hospital" as Maxie Jones since 2005. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance on the TV show in 2009.

This is not the first time that Storms will be taking a break from the show. Back in 2011, she left the show for ten months due to medically-related reasons. She returned to the program in August of 2012. During her ten-month break, actress Jen Lilley from "Days of Our Lives" played the role of Maxi Jones.

"General Hospital" airs weekdays on ABC.
