Will Apple's MacBook Air lineup finally give way to the new MacBook Pro 2016 as the latest rumors suggest?

This is a question industry experts and Apple users are expecting to be answered by Cupertino officials at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, which will be held from June 13 through June 17 in San Francisco, according to Information Week.

Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities, a reliable Apple analyst, may however have the inside track on the goings on at Apple, as he claims that the company plans to unveil a completely revamped MacBook Pro later in 2016.

Based on the latest MacBook 2016 rumors gathered by the tech analyst, the next generation laptop will sport a thinner and lighter design, which may have found inspiration from the 12-inch MacBook.

The notebook will also reportedly feature Touch ID support and OLED display touch bar, which is situated just above the keyboard.

According to Kuo, the OLED touch bar will substitute for the physical keys that are on top of the MacBook Pro frame.

In a separate note written by Kuo and obtained by Apple Insider, he predicts that Apple's redesigned MacBook Pro lineup to make its official debut on the fourth quarter of 2016

Interestingly, the tech experts foresee a future in which Apple's MacBook Air series will eventually be replaced by the souped-up MacBook Pro lineup.

He anticipates that Apple will re-package the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air laptops as entry-level devices instead of upgrading them with high-resolution Retina displays, force touch trackpads, and faster I/O technology.

As if to confirm the latest buzz, Kuo suggests that Apple will continue to stick to its device hierarchy wherein the company will market the 12-inch and upcoming 13-inch MacBooks as mid-level products, while the MacBook Pro will be packaged as a premium device.

Current MacBook Pro 2016 rumors likewise claim that that the notebook will support Thunderbolt 3 technology and USB-C connectivity, while also featuring Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology and Intel Skylake processors.
