Days after Keira Knightley was publicly criticized by her Begin Again director, John Carney, two Hollywood directors have come out in support for the actress.

Three years after the release of the musical romantic comedy, Carney slammed Knightley's acting skills in an interview with The Independent, even adding that he would "never make a film" with the Oscar-nominated actress again.

"I didn't enjoy that experience of paparazzi and fabulous openings. The movie star world is not something that ever appealed to me," he said in the interview. "I like working with actors and I wanted to come back to what I knew and enjoy film-making again - not that I didn't enjoy Begin Again, but Keira has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it's very hard to get any real work done."

In response to Carney's criticism, directors Mark Romanek and Lorene Scafaria took to Twitter to blast the Irish filmmaker.

Romanek, who worked with the 31-year-old actress in Never Let Me Go, called Carney an "arrogant s---head" in a tweet posted on Monday.

"My experience with #keiraknightley was utterly spectacular on every level. I have no clue what this guy is talking about. #arrogants--thead," Romanek wrote.

Romanek then recalled that Knightley's "entourage" comprised only of her mother, who visited her on set once.

Scafaria, who directed Knightley in 2012's Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, also weighed in on Romanek's tweet. "I agree with Mark. Keira was a joy to work w/," she wrote. "Present & early & really really good at her job."
