The producers of the show, EndemolShine North America, have since denied any wrongdoing. In a statement, the company stressed that the safety and well-being of the contestants are its number one priority.
"Contestants are told at the start of the show that there is zero tolerance for any weight-loss drugs. We prohibit the use of any illegal substances, in addition to the many other rules and procedures of the show that are designed to ensure safety," the company's statement said.
Patrick House, winner of 'The Biggest Loser' season 10, also released a statement defending the show. According to House, the show saved his life and did not provide contestants with any drugs.
House defended the show from the claims made by former contestant Joelle Gwynn. Gwynn said in a statement that she was given weight loss pills by an assistant of Robert Harper, a trainer at the show.
House said it os difficult to believe that Gwynn's claims are true because he worked with Harper during his time on the show. He said he laughed at her statements as he knows that Harper will not jeopardize his career or the show's credibility.
Harper has also denied the allegations, which according to him conflict's with his lifelong devotion to health and fitness.
