Vans' Nintendo themed footwear will go on sale in the United States on June 3 and at international retailers for the entire month.
The iconic skateboarding shoe and apparel maker partnered with the Japanese gaming company behind classic video game titles Donkey Kong, the Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros. with “Vans x Nintendo Collection” of shoes. The lineup has a retro theme. Along with those classic games, some of the shoes pay homage to the Nintendo Entertainment System, the 8-bit console that dominated the ’80s.

“To present a throwback-styled, head-to-toe look, the Vans x Nintendo collaboration extends into apparel and accessory items for men and women. Co-branded tees, backpacks, bags, socks, and hats are offered in prints that tie back to the classic footwear,” Vans notes in a press release.
Included in the line-up are pairs of Vans slip-on sneakers featuring characters and lines of dialogue from 1986’s Legend of Zelda and classic Vans Authentic skateboard sneakers featuring Super Mario characters like Mario and Goombas as well as Princess Peach. Some of those sneakers even feature the phrase “Game Over!” printed on the bottoms of the famous Vans waffle soles.
Some of the shoes will also be available in children sizes and the team-up will also include things like co-branded t-shirts, backpacks, bags, socks and hats.
This is not the first time a video game franchise has teamed up with a fashion brand. Back in December, Nintendo partnered with Italian fashion house Moschino on its Super Moschino project, which was intended as a celebration of 30 years of Mario.
