The Oscar curse may be apparent to some actress but not to Brie Larson! The 26-year-old Oscar winner's career has never been rosier, in fact rumors are in that she'll soon join the ranks of Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jaimie Alexander as a Marvel heroine.  

Larson won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Actress after her stirring performance in Room. The is movie based on Emma Donoghue's novel of the same name. Larson's other significant roles where in Short Term 12, 21 Jump Street, and the teen comedy Sleepover.

According to sources identified with the project, Larson is now to negotiating to play superhero Captain Marvel on screen, although no director was yet named to helm the movie. Nevertheless, a source indicates that Brie is likely the best choice.  Justin Kroll of Variety earlier broke the news but Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the rumors.

Meanwhile, the hunt for the film's director is definitely on with preferences for a female filmmaker of the magnitude of Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland, USA) and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) to contend for the work, sources said.

Carol Danvers is an Air Force pilot who became Captain Marvel after her DNA is mixed up with an alien's following an accident. This results to her superhuman abilities of strength, energy projection and ability to fly.

Captain Marvel is an Avenger and her own comic books have already earned the acclaim of fans.

Is this a good career decision? Definitely yes!

Larson will diversify her acting prowess and extend her versatility from drama to action. Fans will see her next in Legendary's monster movie Kong: Skull Island. She will also reunite with  Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton this summer for the drama The Glass Castle.
