Prince, pop legend who suffered from excruciating hip pain in his entire his career, was found to have died from accidental overdose of self-administered fentanyl, a type of opioid, authorities from Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Minnesota said Thursday.
The news finally ended the speculations regarding his sudden demise.

Prince had a reputation for his decent life, but his dependence on medications to treat his condition is also well-known throughout Hollywood.
Fentanyl is usually recommended by doctors to cancer patients to alleviate their pain. Nevertheless, the drug may still be purchased illicitly, which is why there is an increase in overdose-related deaths in the United States.
Fentanyl is 25 to 50 times stronger than heroin and 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration explained.
The singer whose real name was Prince Rogers Nelson died at the age 57 last April 21. He was found unconscious and unresponsive in the elevator of his home at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
The statement released by the medical examiner's office via Twitter, however, did not contain any other details. Only how the injury occurred and the manner of death was provided. "How injury occurred: The decedent self-administered fentanyl," the report said. A box was marked indicating that his death was caused by "accident."
It is also unknown how Prince took the drug and whether or not it was prescribed or illegally purchased.
According to report, Prince weighed 112 pounds and was 63 inches tall when he died and was found to be wearing a "black cap, shirt, pants, boxer briefs and socks and a gray undershirt," the report further details.
His occupation was identified as an "artist" in the "music" business.
Ill health has plagued the singer weeks prior to his death. He had to reschedule a concert in Atlanta because of flu. A week after, he made up the show but fell unconscious while on his private jet on his way to Minneapolis. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Moline, Ill., where he was administered with Narcan, a drug used to offset the effects of an opioid overdose.
