China to carry out antitrust investigation on imported automobile

The vise secretary of the Development Department of the China Automobile Dealers Association Lei Luo said when being interviewed, that they are collecting price information on various imported vehicles these days. The data will be sent to China's National Development & Reform Commission, the Commerce Department, and the State Administration for Industry & Commerce. They will decide whether to carry out antitrust investigation after analyzing the data.

He also says the National Development & Reform Commission has not begin the investigation yet. The data collection was said to be a routine work for the association. The national departments will have their own decision eventually. The investigation includes the imported vehicles and the vehicles made in China by joint ventures. However, the starting date and ending date are not mentioned yet.
Nov. 25th, the Hangzhou Bureau of Commodity Prices said that they found the Guang Zhou Honda set up the discount of the vehicle retail prices in their monthly meeting. They reported the implementation status of last month in the meeting. Then, they applied the economic sanctions to those dealers who did not follow the negotiated retail price. Some companies want to set up a minimum retail price for their vehicles, which is illegal. In that case, Hangzhou Bureau of Commodity Prices issued a fine of three million Yuan.
