World No. 1 Serena Williams demolished Ekaterina Makarova and advance to her third straight U.S. Open Finals at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows New York on Friday.
The 17-time Grand Slam champion came out aggressive in the first set as she hammered serves that kept the Russian at bay. She came to the net a total of six times and she converted in all attempts to take the set in 26 minutes 6-1.

Williams, who turns 33 late this month, continued her onslaught in the second set with a couple of serve and volleys to come out ahead 4-0. Makarova tried to stage a comeback but was not enough as Williams served out for the set and the match, 6-1, 6-3.
The five-time tournament champion did not lose a single set during the event and has only allowed three points against her opponent.
Makarova was surprised and didn't think that Williams would be so aggressive and unbelievably fast.
"She was so aggressive," Makarova said. "She was too good today. She was definitely better today than me."
"Sometimes I was too late because she was too fast," Makarova added.
In pursuit of her third consecutive title and 18th Grand Slam crown, Williams looks forward to her match against Caroline Wozniacki who won over a cramp-stricken Peng Shuai in a hot and humid afternoon.
"I definitely expect another close match," Williams said. "She really knows my game well and knows how to play. She's so consistent."
Williams and Wozniacki are good friends and before the tournament, both of them were glad to be on opposite sides of the draw. Their wishes were granted as they meet in the finals.
"The last two times I played Serena we played really two tough three-set matches," Wozniacki said. "It's going to be a tough one. It's going to be exciting."
