A plane carrying Americans from the U.S. airbase at Bagram, Afghanistan, has arrived safely in Dubai after being redirected to Iran because of flight plan issues, the United States State Department announced on Friday.
The Fly Dubai chartered plane was carrying about 100 Americans and took off Friday morning from Bandar Abbas, Iran, after the flight plan diverted it there.

A U.S. State Department official said the plane was not able to update the flight plan after leaving Dubai.
Because the plane took off late from Dubai, members of the Iranian civil aviation were not able to find it in their system because it was supposed to have passed through several hours earlier.
The aviation officers in Iran said they asked it to land at Bandar Abbas after learning that the plane did not have enough fuel to make a return trip to Afghanistan.
In a statement released by U.S. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf, she said no Iranian aircraft were scrambled during the incident, contrary to several media reports.
"We appreciate the efforts of all parties to help the passengers get safely to their destination," Harf said.
The United States and Iran had a strained relationship for decades.
The countries diplomatic ties was severed when a couple of Iranian students occupied the U.S. embassy in Tehran and detained several Americans.
A total of 52 Americans was held hostage by the Iranian students for 444 days.
At present, Iran and the U.S. are in opposition regarding Iran's nuclear program, which Washington suspects will be used to create the country's nuclear arsenal.
Iran denied these allegations and said the nuclear program was for "civilian purposes."
Washington, which is currently imposing a sanction on Iran for its refusal to surrender its uranium work, is negotiating with other leaders to urge Iran to give up the nuclear works so the sanction can be lifted.
