Singapore Welcomes its First Book Vending Machines

BooksActually has introduced Singapore's first-ever book vending machines. The book dispensers are located at the National Museum of Singapore and on Orchard Road.
BooksActually launched its mini independent bookstores on Friday, June 3. The vending machines have caught the attention of book lovers worldwide.

BooksActually is planning to install its third book vending machine at the Goodman Arts Center by the end of June.
Each machine will hold around 150 books with different titles (20 to 22 titles) from different Singaporean publishers. According to Mashable, bookworms can choose from a selection of genres which range from children's books to series.
The book vending machine located at the National Museum of Singapore has books like Sherlock Sam and The Resident Tourist. Poetry and fiction book collections from Singaporean authors are also available.
The vending machine located on Singapore Visitor Center has a variety of DVDs with a selection of documentaries and music CDs. Tracks from ASPIDSTRAFLY are also available.
During an interview with Channel News Asia, the owner of BooksActually Kenny Leck said that the inspiration to set up a book vending machine came from the Penguincubator by Penguin Books.
BooksActually plans is to put vending machines on MRT stations in Singapore so that locals and tourists can have easy access to reading material.
