Thiago Silva has officially signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotions on Friday despite being told by UFC President Dana White that he won't be welcome.
The Brazilian fighter broke the news of his return to the largest mixed martial arts promotion through his Instagram account, later confirmed by the website MMA Junkie.

"When this thing went down, I said he'd never fight in the UFC again. When I watched it unfold on TV and heard of the charges, it didn't look good for Thiago Silva. But he was acquitted of all charges. How do you not let the guy fight again?" White told UFC.com.
White's initial reluctance to re-sign Silva stemmed from an arrest made on the Brazilian this February. Silva has been under fire after a standoff with police due to charges ranging from assault to resisting arrest.
The said arrest was a result of an incident related to Silva's estranged wife, Thaysa Kamiji, and her partner, professional Jiu-jitsu competitor Pablo Popovitch. Thaysa claimed that the UFC fighter placed a gun inside her mouth and threatened to shoot up Popovitch's MMA School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
However, investigators from Broward County said that Thaysa was deemed uncooperative by the authorities and had more likely left the country. This led to Silva's charges being dropped, opening the possibility of a UFC return.
"He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted. He deserves to be able to make a living again. He's back under contract," added White.
Silva's last UFC appearance was in October 2013. He defeated Matt Hamill with a majority decision resulting to his second straight win since his victory against Stanis Nedkov was overturned after he tested positive for marijuana. This was his second drug-related offense after his 2011 win over Brandon Vera wherein he submitted a false urine sample.
