Curiosity Rover's Two-Year Journey Reveals More about the Red Planet

So, is there really hope for human life to live in Mars?

Author Marc Kaufman of the new book entitled "Mars Up Close" has been working closely with the scientists from NASA and the photos and information gathered are much different from what people initially know.

BBC News' Katty Kay has interviewed Kaufman on Friday and the claims are surprising. Kaufman said that the findings in Mars are the most important planetary discoveries and may even be much more important compared to when astronauts made it to the moon.

Kaufman first said that there was indeed water, way back before, in the red surface of Mars however scientists never ground tested it.

He then countered it saying that there were parts of Mars that were said to have exhibited signs that life could have lived there. This is then being studied further by the rover.

Kaufman also talked about the seasons in Mars. He said that Mars experiences both extreme heat and cold weathers.

He also pointed out that throughout the year there are different levels of dust storms. However, spring won't be anticipated in the area as pointed out by the author.

Kaufman was then asked how long would Curiosity rover be "roving" up in Mars. He said that the first rover called Opportunity was initially planned to be in the area for only eighteen months but has been there for almost a decade now.

The author pointed out that as long as the power of the machine permits the roving of Curiosity, it would stay in Mars in order to observe more and look for evidence that the red planet could be inhabitable.

The book includes incredible and surprising photos about the Martian terrain and basically everything that is happening behind the project is in it.
