FIBA World Cup: Splash Brothers Lead Team USA Over Mexico; Another Bad Performance From D-Rose

As expected, Team USA notched another win to their win streak defeating Mexico 86-63 in FIBA World Cup's round of 16, first game in the elimination stage of the tournament.
The only team that posed a threat towards USA in 2014's FIBA World Cup so far was Turkey last week. Turkey held a close game through the first three quarters before USA began to finally pull away in the fourth to take the win.

It was a quick start for Team USA today, outscoring Mexico 25-13 early in the game and finishing 42-27 at the end of the first-half, while coasting in the second-half.
USA has a dominating margin of victory by more than 30 points over the course of six games in the tournament.
Five players scored in double-figures, but Golden State's "Splash Brothers" Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson stole the spotlight. Curry was on fire shooting 6-of-9 from 3-point range putting up 20 points. Thompson added 15 points, as well as a couple of assists and six boards showing off his hustle.
USA overall finished the game with an impressive 44.8 percent from behind the arc.
Derrick Rose had another disappointing performance, yet again, as he finished with zero points while shooting 0-of-5 from the field with 3 turnovers. He's now shooting just 21.6 percent from the field during the whole FIBA tournament, some discouraging news for Chicago Bulls fans looking forward to the upcoming NBA season.
It's worth noting however, that Rose has been coming off the bench with limited minutes. One good sign for Bulls fans is the fact Rose seems to be healthy despite his inefficient numbers. USA played five games in just six days before the elimination stage began, so the everyday workload is a good test for the star point-guard who went down with another season-ending knee injury.
Team USA will finally have a full few days rest (a scary thought for any opponent) and will be facing Slovenia on Tuesday in Barcelona. USA already dominated Slovenia in an exhibition game on Aug. 26 with a 101-71 win, so fans can certainly expect a similar outcome on Tuesday.
