George R.R. Martin has confirmed that Winds of Winter will be out before the start of season 6.
George R.R. Martin has recently announced the release of a new book related to the, "A Song of Ice and Fire" series in October. With the highly popular novels that inspired HBO's hit fantasy drama, "Game of Thrones" fans have been looking forward to the next book in the series.
However, Martin's next book is entitled, "The World of Ice and Fire," a novel detailing the history of the world that is incorporated into "Game of Thrones."

"The World of Ice and Fire" is reportedly filled with a wide range of illustrations alongside passages of remarkable historical events that have taken place in the author's intricate fantasy world Westeros.
These include occurrences from the Dawn Age up to Mad King Aerys Targaryen's death, which happened shortly before the TV adaptation of "Game of Thrones" began.
As the 65-year-old author's notions of Westeros along with the characters that exist in such world have remained complex, the new book is expected to offer answers to the book and TV series fans' questions, from the last member of the Targaryens to sit on the Iron Throne and what drove him mad to the famous noble houses, such as the Starks, Lannisters and Greyjoys, and what made them dislike each other.
Martin compiled his most recent work with the help of Westeros.org web administrators Linda Antonsson and Elio Garcia, who had overseen the novels' storyline intricacies. By assisting the Hugo Award-winning novelist, the pair of web masters helped out in checking the "ASOIAF" novels for plot consistency.
The author's last full novel in the said series had been released in 2011, entitled "A Dance with Dragons." The upcoming sixth novel, "The Winds of Winter" was initially set to be the last volume in the "ASOIAF" books.
However, Martin tweaked the story a little more and raised fans' expectations by announcing that the final installment called "A Dream of Spring" will be released after "The Winds of Winter" has hit the shelves.
Although there has been no official date for the release of the sixth book, fans can expect to grab a copy in early to mid-2015.
Meanwhile, the new book,"The World of Ice and Fire" has been slotted for an October 26th release.
