Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have kept calm and carried on despite tough hurdles that came their way this year.

Regardless of de Rossi's rehab stint and constant divorce rumors, a new report has claimed that DeGeneres is doing her best to show the actress some love- by "putting her wife first", as reported by RadarOnline.

A source for the entertainment news website claimed that de Rossi's trip to rehab last May kept the 56-year-old comedienne grounded and helped her seek balance between her wife and her career.

"While Portia was in treatment and everyone was predicting that they were getting a divorce, it was really hard," the insider told radar, referring to the couple. "But thankfully, all of that has passed."

Last May, De Rossi reportedly sought help for her substance abuse issue and entered the Passages Malibu facility for a rehab stint.

"Portia hadn't been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating, and Ellen confronted her," an insider told RadarOnline."Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn't in love with her anymore."

Nonetheless, the Hollywood couple recently went over their six-year mark as married partners and celebrated their anniversary last August. DeGeneres and her "Arrested Development" star wife exchange wedding vows back in August 2008.

Slamming one divorce report to another, the TV show host is now claiming that she and de Rossi will remain together "forever" as DeGeneres "puts her wife before anything, even her career."

Last Thursday, the couple was spotted holding hands while happily out and about with their matching sunglasses along Melrose Avenue in California.

Clearly, the comedienne has gladly made the most of her time off from her talk-variety show "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", which has been slotted for a Sept. 8 premiere.
