World No. 1 Serena Williams ended the last Grand Slam tournament of the year by winning her 18th majors title at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows on Sunday night.

After exiting early in the previous slams of the Australian Open, French Open and the Wimbledon Championships, the-32-year-old American captured her third straight tournament title against Caroline Wozniacki in two straight sets 6-3 6-3.

The hard-hitting Williams pummeled seven service aces and 29 winners to outlast the 10th seeded Danish in an hour and 15 minutes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

The six-time tournament champion did not lose a single set during the event and has only allowed three points against her opponent.

She became the second female tennis player to win the US Open in three straight years, with Chris Evert winning the event four consecutive seasons in a row but has tied the latter in most women's singles titles in the same tournament.

Cincinnati Masters champion Williams also achieved her 18th major title tying tennis legends Martina Navratilova and Evert in the all-time list of most Grand Slam titles with Margaret Court on top who gathered 24 majors.

The 2012 Olympic Gold medalist Williams turns 33 late this month, making her the oldest American to win the prestigious tournament.

Williams have not reached the quarter-finals of any of the three Grand Slam tournaments early this year said that she has put off the pressure on herself by not worrying to win.

"I have accomplished a lot, done a lot, not only for the sport but just a lot of things in general," Williams said. "I think I should be happy about that. When I look at the big picture like that, that helps me."

"That's the part that helps me to be able to relax and not take it so serious," added Williams.
