The women's national volleyball team of China routed the team of Thailand with a comfortable straight-set 25-14, 25-14, 25-11 win to claim their first victory in the ongoing 24th edition of the FIVB World Grand Prix Preliminary Pool A at the Beilun Gymnasium in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on Friday.

The win marked China's 14th victory over Thailand in the 28-team world's premier women's volleyball tournament. The last time the Thailand national team defeated China was in the 2012 edition of the prestigious volleyball completion.
"They showed us their best performance. It's a tough match for us. We could not play our own style. I appreciated the Chinese players who came up with their true spirit against our team." Thailand's head coach, Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, told the press after the match.
"They are very strong in almost every skill and we have no answer with their attacks and blocks. However, I thanked my players. They also tried their best to fight against the Chinese. I think we learn a lot from this match," the mentor added.
The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, which the Asian giants won in 2003, is the last and most important competition for China ahead of the team's Olympic campaign. The national team finished fourth in the tournament that was held in Omaha, United States last year.
China is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by the FIVB only behind the United States. The skillful national squad has appeared and competed in eight Summer Olympic Games and successfully brought glory to their country by scooping gold medals in Los Angeles (1984) and Athens (2004).
In PRC's 13 appearances, the Asian powerhouse has won the World Championship title in 1982 and 1986, taking the gold medal in Peru and Czechoslovakia, respectively. China has previously dominated the FIVB Volleyball World Cup in 1981, 1985, 2003 and 2015.
China will next face Germany while Thailand will play Team USA on Saturday.
