Chinese boxing icon and the current World Boxing Organization (WBO) International flyweight titleholder Zou Shiming successfully registered a victory in his United States debut fight against Jozsef Atjai of Hungary at the Madison Square Garden in the New York City on Saturday.

The former two-time Olympic light flyweight champion took home a unanimous decision win over the young Hungarian pugilist. All the three judges scored the bout with 100-89 in favor of the Asian boxer.

Zou, who hails from Zunyi, in the northern Guizhou province, was almost in full control all through the 10 rounds of the boxing match. He was even simpering and sticking out his chin at his opponent,who applied his energy in evading the Chinese fighter,  in the later stages of the bout.

"My competitor's objective was to stand to the last minute of the fight," the 25-year-old Zou said. "He was afraid of the competition."

With the victory, Zou's professional boxing record has improved to 8 wins, 1 loss with 2 triumphs coming by a way of knockouts.

Atjai, who fought for the fourth time this year, suffered the third lost of his professional boxing career that highlights 15 victories with 10 knockouts. The Vasyl Lomanchenko-Roman Martinez undercard bout was the 19-year-old's first defeat since December.

Zou recently vowed to win a professional title to honor the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who recently passed away after suffering complications from Parkinson's disease.

"I planned to go visit my idol Mr. Muhammad Ali after winning a professional bout. But now, I can only pray he is at peace in heaven, and free from illness and pain," the three-time World Amateur Championship light flyweight winner posted on his Twitter-like Weibo account.
