‘Warcraft’ News & Updates: Movie Hits Box Office, Rakes in $145 Million in China Over Weekend Opening

No country has embraced Warcraft better than China. During its weekend opening, Warcraft earned $145 million, more than five times more its $27 million opening at the U.S. box office.
'Warcraft' Hits Record Sale in China
Warcraft became the fastest international film due to its China box office sales. It is the first film to top the four-day record of $135 million in the market, Variety reported. Duncan Jones helmed Warcraft, which stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, and Ben Foster.

Chinatopix earlier reported that Warcraft earned $61.7 million ahead of this opening weekend. Now, the film has earned $145 million after four days of sales.
The film adaptation of the popular game Warcraft grossed $46 million on its opening day in China alone. Last year, Furious 7 held the record and finished its run with $390 million in China's box office.
Because of its record-breaking sales, Warcraft has earned $277 million worldwide from 51 markets, with 23 launching over the weekend. Warcraft has ranked number one among 45 markets. Warcraft started hitting theaters on May 25.
After China, Russia held the second-best international territory with $19.1 million in 6 days. Meanwhile, Warcraft recorded $1.8 million in its first two days in South Korea and recorded $1.7 million in Taiwan. Lastly, Ukraine set a record on Thursday, earning $233,000.
Legendary and Universal backed the $160 million film. Universal is distributing the films except in China, where China Film and Huaxia are handling the distribution. Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda recently acquired legendary.
It is projected that Warcraft will end second place, 30 percent behind The Conjuring 2. Check out the movie's trailer below.
