Title favorites Germany kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign with a 2-0 win against Ukraine on Sunday at the Stade Peirre Mauroy, Lille Metropole. Shkodran Mustafi and Bastian Schweinsteiger scored Germany's two goals and ensured a comfortable win over Ukraine in their Euro 2016 opener.

"We played well and kept up our good standards in defence," German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said after the victory. "We haven't shown yet everything that we have to show, we will keep improving."

Poland also pulled off a narrow 1-0 win over Northern Ireland on Sunday at the Stade de Nice. Arkadiusz Milik's 51-minute strike handed Poland a victory in their opening game of the European competition.
