The 24-year-old right-handed player managed to withstand six set points in the opening set and a further one in the second as she held off a strong effort by the American. Pliskova has been struggling with a hip injury throughout the competition, but was able to pull through with a win.
"It feels good to win, especially after all those tie-breaks this week. All of those I was set point down, so I'm really happy that I made it and that I have the trophy in my hands," Pliskova said. "Today there were parts of the match when I was better and parts when she was.
"I really needed my serve today and some aces got me out of some important moments. She has a great game on grass so I needed to be at my best today to get the win," she added.
The Aegon Open is the latest title under Pliskova's name. Pliskova, who has already managed to claim the Malaysian Open in 2013, the Korea Open and the Generali Ladies Open in 2014 as well as the Prague Open in May, will be heading to Birmingham to participate in the WTA Premier Aegon Classic, which carries a top prize of US$ 780,900.
Meanwhile, the tennis tandem of China's Peng Shuai and Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic won the championship title for the women's doubles event after the duo outlasted the fourth seeded pair of Yang Zhaoxuan and Gabriela Dabrowski 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.
