Cain Velasquez has expressed his desire to stay dominant in the UFC octagon despite being out of action for over a year.

Velasquez is confident with his return on UFC 180, Nov. 8 in a match against Fabricio Werdum in Mexico City. According to an interview with Bleacher Report, the champion is ready to defend his title regardless of who he's fighting with.

"It's definitely nice to prepare for someone new, but that doesn't matter to me," said Velasquez. "Whoever earns a shot, earns the shot and that is who I'm going to fight."

The Mixed Martial Arts athlete with the Brown Pride Tattoo has been fighting Antonio Silva and Junior dos Santos in the past three years. Bigfoot was able to snag one victory from his three fights with Velasquez but Cigano has never won any of his two bouts.

"I want to keep doing this. I am going to keep winning and staying in this position."

Werdum is a new opponent for the champion and he is not taking the challenger lightly.

"He is a tough opponent. He's a guy who already has so much experience, but he's always getting better. He has great jiu-jitsu and good hands as well. It's going to be a good fight." added Velasquez.

The Mexican-American fighter also said that he's trying to better his game in order to keep the title.

"I'm always trying to improve and always trying to get better as far as learning new skills and techniques go. I'm not looking to plateau. I'm always working to get better. That's what my focus is on."

Velasquez underwent surgery on December in order to fix the labrum in his left shoulder.

UFC 180 will be the first time the promotion is going to host an event south of the border. Reports say that the tickets for the event sold out in just eight hours.
