Indiana Jones won't suffer the same fate as Han Solo - at least for now.
Indiana Jones creator and director Steven Spielberg told Hollywood Reporter that Harrison Ford's daring archaeologist character will continue to reign over Indiana Jones 5.

Spielberg remained mum about when the already-long-in-the-works sequel will come out, but he did say, "The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison at the end of it." Spielberg definitely won't spoil the plot, so we aren't sure if Ford's character will appear after the next sequel.
Ford's fans were saddened after his iconic character Han Solo met an untimely death in the latest Star Wars release. Nevertheless, Han Solo will see his younger incarnation played by a new actor.
"I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans," Spielberg said, downplaying the shenanigans which Indy 5 is definitely not.
Ford, on the other hand, is preparing to wear his signature fedora and jacket once again.
"I'm excited about it," Ford said in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel last March, when the movie was formally announced.
Ford was elated for the "opportunity" to "work [once again] with Steven" as well as for the "chance to revisit this character, which has brought pleasure to so many people," including himself.
Asked how he feels about reprising the legendary role, Ford said he would enjoy the task.
"It is great fun to work with Steven. I'm looking forward to it," he said.
The fifth Indiana Jones movie is slated to hit cinemas on July 19, 2019.
